WDMR 2021: Towards an Ever Wider “We”

Since 1914, the Church has celebrated a world day dedicated to migrants and refugees.

UISG invites all congregations to join the initiative of the Vatican’s Migrants and Refugees Section in preparation for the day in 2021, for which each month there will be unpublished videos of the Holy Father, multimedia, informative material and reflections by theologians and experts that will help to understand and analyse the Message.

The 107th World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) will be celebrated on Sunday, 26 September 2021. The theme chosen by the Holy Father, Towards an Ever Wider “We”, echoes his appeal that, in the future, “we will think no longer in terms of ‘them’ and ‘those’, but only ‘us’” (Fratelli Tutti, 35).
On this occasion, the Migrants and Refugees Section is proposing a communication campaign based on Pope Francis’ message.

We encourage you to publish them, to make them known to your collaborators, to use them as materials for community and pastoral reflection.
The video and material from the first month of the campaign are available at the link below, which can be downloaded, published, used and shared freely.

In the first video, Pope Francis explains the chosen theme and delves into the sub-theme A “we” as wide as humanity by offering the testimony of those who, living along borders, build bridges where walls try to divide “us”.

In the months leading up to September 26, the Migrants and Refugees Section is happy to receive written or multimedia stories, videos and photographs from local churches and other Catholic institutions whose pastoral care for the most vulnerable demonstrates their shared commitment “towards an ever wider ‘we’.” Materials can be sent to media@migrants-refugees.va
