Peace and all good!
We invite you and your Leadership Team to consider a JPIC Commission-sponsored formation opportunity for congregational promoters of Justice, Peace and care for the Integrity of Creation (JPIC), which will take place in Rome from November 15 to 18, 2017. In light of the many challenges in the world today, the workshop will focus on Pope Francis’ World Day of Peace (WDP) message, Nonviolence: A style of Politics for Peace. This important theme will be integrated throughout this four-day event, to enable JPIC Promoters to become true artisans of peace… because nonviolence has to become the hallmark of our decisions, our relationships and our actions and, indeed, of our political life in all its forms.

The JPIC Commission addresses the critical global concerns today—just peace, climate change/environment, anti-trafficking, refugees/migrants, hunger. The workshop will present ways through which religious communities can attend to the “questions of justice,” in order to “hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor.” (Laudato Si #49). Participants will learn to use the tools needed to effectively promote the prophetic ministry of JPIC as it relates to the charism of your congregation and the lives of your members. Opportunities for interaction and reflection are included in the program.
Because of the present turmoil in the world, it is with great urgency that we ask you to seriously consider sending to this formation workshop the person who is responsible for coordinating social justice concerns in your congregation or one who would benefit most from participating in this event as it relates to his/her ministry.
The workshop will enhance the ability of participants to animate and engage their community members and their ministries in the task of pursuing the mission of justice, peace, and integrity of creation.
