ACWECA meeting: Eastern and Central African sisters share experiences, agree to focus on formation
More than 150 Catholic sisters from nine countries gathered in Tanzania this week for the 17th Plenary of the Association of Consecrated Women in Eastern and Central Africa (ACWECA), the regional meeting for sisters that takes place every three years.
The theme of the Assembly is “Revitalize Our Solidarity for Deeper Evangelisation in Today’s Complex Reality within the Region”.
The 43-year-old ACWECA organization represents approximately 40,000 sisters in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. The last ACWECA assembly in 2014 in Zambia.
