FADICA’s Report on Human Trafficking Efforts at U.S. Catholic Colleges
Dear Friend,
Thank you for your efforts to combat human trafficking and end modern-day slavery. Considering your leadership on this issue, we are sharing our most recent research with you. FADICA’s International Philanthropy Affinity Group’s report, Agents of Awakening: A Review of Anti- Human Trafficking Activities at U.S. Catholic Colleges and Universities, details diverse models of anti-trafficking programs at over 100 Catholic institutions of higher ed.
Over two summers and through the collaboration of passionate undergraduate and graduate interns, FADICA produced a report to highlight the work of Catholic colleges and universities that raise awareness, provide services, conduct research, and/or educate about human trafficking.
The findings include:
· Of approximately 200 schools surveyed, at least 102 Catholic colleges and universities are engaged in anti-trafficking efforts.
· Catholic campuses are vital incubators for survivor-based work.
· A key ingredient to successful programs is collaboration across sectors, universities, and academic departments.
This report uplifts the breadth of programs on Catholic campuses nationwide, and can serve as a catalytic tool for those concerned with human trafficking and higher education.
With gratitude for your colleagueship,
Maddy McMahon
